yeso Yup. Now that you mention Liz’s points, I remember what she mentioned about streamers and other gamergaters creeping at people’s content in other to win cash (and if they can get onto their “higher ground”, as wise Obi-Wan said once), I have to say that capitalism has gotten so embedded into structures that there are people getting so meta in social media and videogame (counter)criticism/propaganda that it feels disgusting. I’ve tried watching several of these people and it’s incredible how fake and needy some of those people are, yet it’s also very performative, which reminds me of how terrible YouTube in the 2010s were with people “faking being characters” (LOL). This seems that has derivated into videogames, changing none of the structures but making fandom and social spaces more insufferable. And yes, consummerism lies at the core of this, which is really problematic politically (considering consummerism/capitalism is the root of a climate change, but this is an offtopic for another day).
