If I haven’t replied to someones comment above please let me know.
I didn’t reply to the likes since it seems most people either like it or are not fully against it. The only problem I ever had with likes was people could like posts in locked threads. Which I felt wasn’t a constructive way to use that feature. But that’s no longer possible.
DONE
- users no long appear in search box (can’t control the return order. so it’s this or displaying them)
- primary tag: “forum games” and video game secondary tag “highlight”
- weblinks open in new tab by default

Syzygy The forum software sometimes rejects attempts to merge threads into old and/or large threads. I cannot perfectly reproduce the conditions of the bug— though experience suggests it’s post/text quantity— but for example I had to make this thread recently because I went to split a few stray comments into the movies mega thread and could not.
I probably can’t do anything about this because without writing a patch for the plugin. And being realistic I don’t have time for that! If anyone who knows PHP has the time and would like to do this they are welcome to chat to you about it and submit a PR to the plugin repo.
@pasquinelli i prefer pagination to infinite scroll. if the thread is new to me i usually want to read the first posts, then the most recent posts, but the scrollbar for the thread’s entire history is finicky.
Can’t do anything about this without changing the theme. We have plans in future to write a theme for the site. But right now we can’t find anyone who has the free time and knows front end web technology to do it. If we find someone to make the theme I will see if this is something we can create as an option for people.
I personally don’t like infinite scroll either but it’s the way things are configured right now and there’s not a button I can press to change it.
I can’t do anything about this. it’s the default way the software works. Again this is another case of someone would need to write a plugin unless one exists and I’m unaware.
I’m not sure I can do much here without writing a plugin but I can see if there’s some way to configure it in the backend.
tokucowboy But I understand this stuff is a ton of work, so that’s just something I would like if it eventually existed.
lol pretty much. that is a good idea and I wish it was something that already existed!
antillese On mobile, the majority of tweets do not load in the iOS Safari version of the forum.
Sounds like a cross-site permissions thing maybe! I’ll try and take a look into this.
antillese Additionally, whatever you all are doing to protect the forum from spam and registration bots etc, it seems to be working. I have a pretty enjoyable time here and it’s not polluted.
We have a plugin that requires the first post to be approved. We had it so it was first post and first discussion approved. But that caused problems because it wasn’t first post OR first discussion approved. So regular users needed posts approved and it caused private messages to leak because they didn’t play nicely together (your first private thread would need to be approved by a mod and would be public. bad bad bad). Hoping for a bug fix there to re-enable the first discussions. But again it’s relying on people working in their free time to patch the plugin!
