Positive thoughts:
◉ Way more pandering to old Shining Force I&II fans than I expected.
◉ Takenouchi soundtrack on point.
◉ The battle scenes are pretty cool.
◉ Seems more and more credible that they might release traditional remakes with the same engine on consoles later.
◉ No Tony Taka! At all! Wow!
◉ Much to my surprise, the character art chosen for “old fans” is more inspired by Suezen than Tamaki (unless it’s just a coincidence that his style fits the new artist better).
◉ Consequently, the Suezen characters are ’OK’.
Negative thoughts:
◉ The Tamaki characters are messed up.
◉ Charadesign is pretty weak overall, and even more so by Korean standards.
◉ Checkboard art is as meh-tastic and as poorly animated as expected.
◉ Will be tough to have guest character designer collaborations with such a complex representation of battle.
◉ Nothing Darkness, Gaiden or III (so far).
◉ Still a gatcha.
