rejj For that price point, given the competition, I’d call this a bad deal for all but the most cautious buyers who want that free year of high-level NEC tech support. The specs are good, but you can source the individual parts & a similar airflow-oriented case for much, much less. (Japan’s PC part market has especially good pricing & supply due to their proximity to Taiwan’s chip industry.) And this will have to compete with similar pre-builts from Lenovo, Toshiba, etc.
I think it’s really cool that they’re investing in their PC legacy again, but I would also much prefer a PC-88/-98 Mini with built-in games and plenty of room to add more via Project EGG. That would be a very cool gadget for a much cheaper price.
