Lowkey offended that a discussion of good video game flavor text went by without any mention of Metroid Prime, the game that turns you (a.k.a. Samus Aran) into an interplanetary biologist/archaeologist/superspy with one simple, perfectly integrated interactive flavor text mechanic.
Also disappointed that no one had any SMT demon suggestions from real-world mythology/religion. The series has mined a lot of the big ones pretty thoroughly (Judeo-Christian, Greco-Roman, Norse, Sumerian, Chinese, Japanese, Hindu, Buddhist, etc.) but a lot of Native/Indigenous and African mythologies seem very underutilized. I was shocked to find out there’s never been any SMT representation of Anansi, Br’er Rabbit, or any of the other West African folktale pantheon.
I enjoyed Moon (the movie) way back when it came out; never saw another Duncan Jones pic and forgot that he’d made a (poorly received) Netflix movie. Added that to my watchlist, with the understanding that when Tim says a movie is “good” he often means “has some interesting qualities in isolation” more than, like, good. (I tried playing the DS game Moon via the 3DS remake but kept quitting early on because it was too boring and unpleasant to control - sorry, Brandon - and the PSX Moon was one of my favorite games of 2020 - good job, Tim.)
