My neighbor’s 17 year old son has started coming over to play smash bros in the afternoon, and today I seized the opportunity to finally give Hyper Gunsport a shot.
So this is just first impressions
It’s pretty sick. This 17 year old is a typical gta CoD gamer I guess, but he’s pretty open minded and had a lot of fun. He played goalie using a joycon and I was striker with my 8bitdo pro 2.
I’m pretty biased by being here, but I’m typically really harsh on indie games, anyone who knows me here knows I play certified classics and am skeptical of indies because they’re usually rehashing stuff I have already played or tend to have generally little value to me.
Generic statement: Gunsport is refreshingly original while also not requiring much commitment to experience it. I have compared it to windjammers a lot. It has a lot more interesting embellishments, where windjammers can get boring after a while.
- certified party title. I think it’s better than windjammers for when you’re hanging out and want an arcade game for switch. The fact it’s co-op and 2v2 is ideal and it’s now a goal for me to have a fully human 2v2 irl.
- The audio here is super smooth. Accents always get stuck in my head for better or worse, the announcer accent was a fun choice.
- The BG graphics rule and even though we didn’t get far, the stages I saw were great. The tiki face goal posts are cool.
So I wouldn’t say I was “pleasantly surprised” because it’s no surprise that it was pretty sick. But I do have a pretty pretentious standard to play up to, and I was impressed, meaning it’s pretty damn cool. Looking forward to an rpg from this team, if it’s as all-encompassingly well thought out as this.
