exodus The jump really worked for me! I felt enticed to go for tricky shots, even though they were difficult to pull off. Pretty much right away I felt pulled to try and look cool and do difficult stuff.
I got a lot of points from cheesing the AI. When the ball reset, I could spam left click at a specific angle, shoot the ball in what seemed like a generous frame window near when play restarts, and maybe 80% of the time it’d get in the middle goal. One of the reasons I want to play against humans is I expect this strategy is easily countered, and also I want to try and get a focus shot with it (probably only possible with a human partner).
The whole vibe of the game is top notch and I will definitely go back and play the other available demo team. The music, art, dialogue, announcer, really everything feels cohesive and works together.
Is there a place in the match intro screen that says the team names? I couldn’t tell who I was playing against until we were in the match.
Finally, the sport itself is just fun. The game’s mechanical simplicity allowed me to, right away, think about what I was doing. Not in a button press way, but how I wanted to use my shots. I was engaged every match, even when I was stomping the AI.
