I don’t think so… It is for sure heavily inspired by (i.e. a parody of?) the opening theme to NHK’s popular puppet show Hyokkori Hyōtan-Jima. Based on the rap style and catchy lyrics of the Zelda song, I would hazard a guess that Bose from local hip hop crew Scha Dara Parr was probably involved once again.

beets I have listened to the Doshin OST and other music by that artist that is tangentially related, for many years of my life (it’s been on my iPod since 2010 or whatever), and I can confirm that no, I don’t hear a resemblance to that Zelda commercial, which I’ve also watched ten thousand times since back in the day.

rootfifthoctave I really love that they almost completely get the style of the edgy 90s video game commercial down, but the thing they’re missing is that those TV spots were never longer than thirty seconds which made them much more frantic.
