I just realized this is a good place to share wine recommendations.
I am starting with pretty expensive stuff so just memo these names for your next Barmitzvah, but this is what I had today during a pretty highbrow saturday meal. (Hands not mine.)

Auguste Clape Cornas 2017
https://www.vivino.com/US/en/auguste-clape-cornas/w/92366?year=2017
Classic Rhône red, perfect with savory meat and soups or celery mash. This wine is life.

Armand Pommard 1er Cru 2015
https://www.vivino.com/US/en/comte-armand-pommard-1er-cru-clos-des-epeneaux-monopole/w/1129143?year=2015
A well rounded Pinot, well suited for Duck and such meats, or blue cheese.
But these are pretty bonkers prices I see for import so let me add three reasonable California classics I am always happy to see on a menu. (Hands not mine, again.)

Slam Dunk
https://www.vivino.com/US-CA/en/slam-dunk-red/w/8980339?year=2020&price_id=27106708
Fantastic value for money, this is just as good as many posh French red wines priced with an extra 0 on the menu. It’s also a very versatile wine that you can slot in the rotation at any point in the menu. Also it has the same name as a great manga so what more can you ask?

Conundrum
https://www.vivino.com/US/en/conundrum-wines-red-blend-california/w/4218931
Another awesome Zinfandel. Much stronger so better if not the only wine on the roster that night, and highly recommended as the last wine of the night, because you’ll still taste Conundrum on the next bottle otherwise. I swear this wine has an aphrodisiac power, as well.

Bread and Butter
https://www.vivino.com/JP/en/bread-and-butter-chardonnay/w/1755251
One of the best and most well known Chardonnay wines on the market nowadays. Not necessarily my style (I am more the Alsace pinot gris type for whites) but super welcoming wine for newcomers, with those distinctive buttery notes and super aromatic aftertaste. You won’t win any cool points with this choice but it’s the safest pick for the smoothest lick.
