Bad place for a Serious Answer but I feel like generally people who survive the trauma of active combat together attain a very unique type of intimacy where another person becomes in certain ways closer than family and connected to you forever but also, after the war, very often someone you specifically would not want to see every day for the rest of your life. I’m no expert and I’m sure there are exceptions to this but I have never ever heard of people meeting or bonding in combat (as opposed to, like, in a military hospital) and then becoming life partners after, romantic or otherwise, regardless of gender.
