i had no idea about this! i ended up following various guides to progress ranni’s questline and at the time none of them mentioned this so of course i never went looking for him

Well, I did extole the benefits of my meticulous playing style!

Speaking of I took my main character into NG+ and decided to test the theory Malina’s appearances are based on Sites discovered and no, it seems she won’t say hi up on Altus Plateau. Did learn if you try to rush the capitol you get a hard lockout behind the door-boss that says “you need more great runes”.

More tellingly, you must accept Melina’s accord to progress and some quests get quite busted if you go to mid-game areas early. Don’t like that. Shout-outs to Gideon telling me I’m a houseguest yet to earn my keep while I have multiple Great Runes in my inventory.

It felt really good teleporting my way through the stormveil front gates, past the ballistae and straight through godrick on my first NG+ run, amazing how little there is to the castle itself if you go that way… bypassing 90% of stormveil castle proper. I’m taking the linear route almost entirely through the game, even sticking to the roads strewn about each map most of the time.

Casually getting stuff I missed along my way through the main path… lvl 150 and only spending runes on upgrade materials to try new weapons….

Still plugging away and always making progress, finished up the capital today, but dang this is exhausting. I kinda just want to watch someone else play through the rest of the game.

I used to watch LoBro’s totally blind playthroughs back in the day, so I was anticipating this happening! He’s always full of surprises, and LobosJr has so much discipline with not backseating him, not even one bit, and it always leads to interesting scenarios like the time he parried the Bed of Chaos in DkS1.

I beat the Fire Giant. And I want to power through to the ending. The Frenzied Flame ending.

However, I’m not sure where to go next. Approaching the Forge doesn’t reveal what I’m supposed to do, in fact, nothing happens.

“Cryptic” isn’t really possible: you need to go up on the rim and there’s a Site of Grace at the far end.

I heard if you discard 99 rune arcs in the center of the Forge of the Giants and reload your game, you get a secret ending

Took down the Godskin Duo with ease with a hilariously corny pseudo-cheese strat I saw online: Sleep Pot one, fight the other (I had ol’ Mimic Tear with me too), then gang up on the sleeping one…. with my +9 Dark Moon Greatsword, me and Mimic Tear were almost killing the one we were waking up within the animation where they’re resurrecting the other one.

I’ve been slowly plugging away at this between some other games, taking it the slowest I’ve ever done for a FromSoft game and it’s been real nice! Been catching messages and such from folks here which has been fun and often helpful.

Biggest progress this week has been nearly fully opening up Stormveil Castle (aside from dealing with Godrick who is still a bit beyond me) and also finding my way around to Liurna, as well as a lift down to Siofra River. I am excited to explore new lands!

I have four multiplayer passwords I use now. It’s exciting to see something from Group 1 (here), but it’s also nice having a ton more group activity from the likes of Lobosjr, Vaati, Theomney, and getting rune increases every 10 minutes or so, lol.

Also I wanna point out a new similarity to ICO/SotC in this game: the Omen being cast away underground and/or having their horns cut off is very reminiscent of the horned children of ICO/SotC.

no idea where to go now though. poke around siofra some more? i thought castle redmane would have the other half to the medallion for the lift up to the capital in it

My friend who is the son of Matt groening has me come over so he can use my pc to play elden ring on his tv. He’s a big souls fan (he also imported the JP version of demons souls before it came out here) Today he beat margit and the misbegotten within 3 tries apiece. Then I trolled him a little by saying “hey jump over that balcony”… he fought Alberich for two hours before finally clutching it out. He started as confessor, and only put levels into vigor and endurance (22/16). 👑 (that’s his character rebbe in my screenshot above)
