hello everyone,
just checking in and seeing if anyone is still playing, i am about 75 hours in. i think i did some stuff out of order because after limgrave i did liurnia, of course, but then kept going up and curved around over to altus plateau and leyndell, and finally went to caelid which is where i am now. i was saving caelid due to being afraid of it (scary), but it’s pretty easy so i think i was meant to do it before leyndell. but sir gideon offnir told me to go to leyndell after liurnia so that’s why i did it,
i think i still like my route because i was also scared of radahn just based on his reputation and cool title (conqueror of the stars) but now i feel ready to take him on.
the more i find out about the world by watching lore videos and stuff, the more i wish i was not doing that. i dunno i am marinating on this interpretation of the game that is like, the world being at this inflection point where the old order is collapsing, and conservative forces marshaling to hold it together, but right beside them are unrepentant archconservatives who see all the chaos as an opportunity to impose an even older and more retrograde order. and these are the principal actors driving the events, while you and many of the friendlies you meet are the ones doing the dirty work, without even really being given a reason. and in private conversation there is a consensus among friendlies that it’s time to just burn it all down. just a general feeling of being manipulated and pushed around by forces that you don’t understand. maybe stuff will happen to you, maybe it won’t, when it does it’s not really clear why. which i think gels really well the storytelling approach that has intentional gaps in the narrative that you are meant to fill in yourself. and you could only do this with a game… it’s great!!!!
