I’m looking forward to the quantic dream star wars game - is it taken for granted that star wars is good and needs to be protected or something? What more can anyone really hope for from a relentless corporate media franchise for children than quantic dream wastes a ton of money making something extremely dumb and self-important ?

yeso good point re: not caring about the sanctity of star wars. I was only thinking about it from the point of david cage being given more cultural power, which, for better or for worse (definitely worse), is what being in control of Star Wars does for a person.

As a Star Wars liker-but-not-fanatic my initial reaction was overwhelming disappointment when the Quantic Dream logo came up at the end of that announcement trailer. I happened to be watching that part of the Game Advertisements live and found myself saying NOOOOO out loud.

After that initial shock wore off though, it’s definitely more of a concern that this is a reward for Cage’s notoriously bad behaviour. I would rather the whole Star Wars franchise be retired than see Cage lauded for whatever choose-your-own-adventure nonsense the Disney machine empowers him to make his victims churn out.

The whole section about stopping David Cage felt so risky…. what if there are more zealots at Quantic Dream than we think, and essentially “retiring” Cage from “videogames” (“in Minecraft”) might have some disastrous effects. What’s worse, a scandal-pocked Cage working on a Disney adjacent product, or a whole team of Cage-lites taking on their Master’s work after he has become a martyr?

I was thinking about a game made just for me and if there was a game that had similar gameplay and mechanics to Disco Elysium, but the characters are all based on Steiff bears and animals. They look stop motion animated, and the world is constructed of model sets. The tone is not at all like Disco, but it is a detective mystery. Adult themes are still allowed but we aren’t going for a ‘Feebles’ vibe at all. This is my idea for a game, I hope you don’t steal it.

Really enjoyed Brandon’s thoughts about going easy on high school you — they were dealing with some stuff and have been trying to improve since. May have been meant more personally, but a good reminder nonetheless.

Also, Tim’s bit about the Rabbid’s convincing Mario to finally pickup and use a gun really cracked me up.

Mario first picked up a gun all the way back in 1993 in Yoshi’s Safari, which was a SNES game that used the Super Scope. Though I like to think he hated the violence and made some kind of anti-gun oath that only the rabbids could break.

You tellin me that a man who could escape down the magic green human diameter sized sewer pipes in Brooklyn couldn’t have draft dodged? Heck, would the US bureaucracy have even been able to pin this man’s paperwork down when his name, Mario Mario, was clearly fake?

All this man needed to be able to do was to be able to get to the garden if he saw the police cruiser roll up, eat the right flower, and Mario Mario is leaving behind only the vague smell of incinerated bacon while he’s jumping down a giant sewer pipe and popping up on the other side of Manhattan seconds later

Y’all seem to be forgetting that in fact, Mario first picked up a gun all the way back in 1989, in the momotaro episode of the Amada Anime Series: Super Mario Bros.

In this Anime, Mario is born from a peach that falls from the sky and then when he grows old enough to go save peach and fight Bowser, he inherits the family’s gun.

Mario is actually born with his moustache so maybe he wasn’t born from that peach but that’s just how he got to the mushroom kingdom and the hammer boss that adopted him thought he was a baby.
(I know momotaro is a japanese folklore figure and this Mario ova is very loosely based on that story, I’m just trying to fit all of this into the lore)

The fun part about this anime is how Mario is always carrying his gun but he never shoots, not even once in the whole episode. Proving that the Brooklyn plumber wasn’t very fond of shooting guns from the beginning.
He was comfortable carrying one around and holding Bowser at gunpoint though.

Maybe something happened in Vietnam and that’s why Mario refused to shoot a gun again until 1993 in Yoshi’s Safari.

I hate to say this - I think he wanted to go. He regretted it later but he was gung-ho about it at first. (Mario is not very smart)
