xhekros i was thinking more like B-tier studio games rather than straight indies. coz tonnes of indie soundtracks are really popular! celeste, hollow knight, cuphead, dicey dungeon, shovel knight. i guess you could probably count touhou as well? celeste is on the current list for me and i see that as a bit of a “mainstream” choice for want of a better phrase.

rootfifthoctave Yeah. I’ll try to make a list with some pendings that might be nice to hear from now on, but I can think OSTs like Unravel, Outer Wilds or Disco Elysium right of the bat. Citizen Sleeper had a nice OST, too, but I don’t know if it’s mindblowing or not.

People were chomping at the bit to get started. The data collection Google Form I made needs just a few more additions suggested by @LeFish who I elected as an alpha tester, and seeing as they didn’t think it had any major problems and the spreadsheet it outputs looks fine, I will post it soon!

a couple console OSes have great soundtracks and you should totally feel emboldened to put Wii System Software or whatever on your list.

***but I don’t make da rules, that’s @Gaagaagiins and I appreciate their effort putting this thread together. didn’t mean for this post to come off as imperious as it probably did.

saddleblasters I don’t know how many people would agree with me, but I’d be in favor of expanding soundtrack beyond the OST of a single game to also include more amorphous stuff like the famous Hosono Video Game Music album or the Nintendo Sound Selection albums, which are official releases that include music from a bunch of games from a single company, including some sound effects as well. I don’t actually know if this allowed by your rules already, but it seemed like the assumption was that a soundtrack only belongs to a single game.

I think I’m going to overall agree with @yeso and say that less rules are probably better.

LeFish I’ve started testing and will finish later today. It’s 5am here and I’m only a minor sleep masochist.

That’s great! I am having supper with my grandma unexpectedly today, so might be a bit tied up today.

Depending on whether or not you had any issues with the process and whether or not the data looks fine after submission, we should be able to post it soon.
