Syzygy replaying Yoshi’s Island, it’s unsettling to play the monkey levels, because they’re maybe the game’s only enemy NPCs that register the dinosaur babysitter voring everything into eggs as a threat and try to flee from it.
Why are Nintendo’s gameplay mechanics so conceptually upsetting? Thinking specifically about the discourse over whether Cappy is a mind control device.
@treefroggy this feels like cheating because it’s a zoo game, but here is some Bornean orang gameplay from Planet Zoo with prominent flanged male:
I am definitely noting the dearth of orangs in games now and missing it because they are beautiful animals. I hate the concept of for-profit zoos having to cater to the humans and not the animals, especially when it comes to great apes. I have a memory of visiting the Toronto Zoo almost a decade ago and coming to the orangutan enclosure, which was just a glass room with a family in it hiding under scraps of cardboard with humans surrounding and gawking at them. That would screw me up to have to live that way, why wouldn’t it harm them?
Anyway here’s something else that popped up while searching: a vangeful orangutan screwing with some woman’s Commodore.
