Video Game King You got it! Faselei was one of the standout NGPC games for me in the year 2000. Also it came out in 1999 and I recall the emulation for it in 2000 being perfect. Wild.
Please, brave warrior, enjoy this vibrotrap.
Also wild: the opening uses some X-Treme sample compression to manage something resembling an anime opening in a way similar to how Tales of Phantasia did it years before. This was extra wild after all the time I spent listening to the NGPC’s caveman sound system, which I did not know up to that point could do any form of sampling. NGPC music is something like a track at a time, and yet the soundtracks of most of the fighting games still sound distinctly like SNK fighters… SNK fighters without sound, but SNK fighters nonetheless.
The feel of the game itself is interesting, you use program chips to control your mech each turn and hope that the enemies don’t move in ways that’ll screw up your plans. Like Gundam if Newtype meant ‘good at organizing punch cards’.
Now let’s see what @Video Game King can stump us with!
