yeso so shane talked just about the planning phase graphic but I believe you mean the whole planning phase in general looks too real, and too similar to the action phase. I agree, but I’m not sure we’re going to be able to do anything about that. we’ve talked back and forth about it for ages and haven’t come up with any good conclusions, because if you go for like… icons and a full overhead view in planning mode, you have to make new specific graphics for that and you can easily lose track of who’s who, etc. kerwin who does the gameplay programming wanted to remove the planning phase entirely and just let it be the action phase, but that reduces our ability to make the action look cool by overlapping everything, and also doesn’t give you as much control over the rewind. So our compromise was this kind of camera perspective shift, but we could maybe look at further differentiating with some lighting or shaders or something… I’m not really sure though. We’ve been back and forth about it a lot but it hasn’t bothered too many people so I’ve been kind of in favor of leaving it and focusing on other issues… it’ll nag at me a bit but I don’t think it’s a perfectly fixable problem in the time.
Chopemon yeah, definitely share it around! Catherine did our UI and she has done a great job with it. we spent a lot time going back and forth about things, and while there’s still some stuff we might tweak like with maps, the visual language I think is relatively solid.
rejj don’t worry about your fight ranking right now - I guess shane said this too but that’s very much in flux and is not at all final yet. It’s not right for me yet either.
connrrr shane answered your questions but re: the tactics stuff, I’m glad it worked for you - we’ve been talking about it more as an RPG with tactical battles than a tactics RPG because the battles are zippy and short, vs your 30-60 min tactics game battles. We’ve gotten some feedback from folks that this has been a better entry into tactics for people who don’t generally like them, which is nice to hear!
