Just played the demo a little bit ago. I have to say I liked it a lot and I am ready for more! I love the style and pace of everything. It feels accessible, yet the battles are still fun little tactics puzzles that make you think about what you’re doing enough to feel satisfied when you do well. Also, I played on Steam Deck and that experience was flawless.
I didn’t play the earlier demo before some things got patched, so I may have had a different experience than some others, but the mechanics felt pretty straightforward to me (I did however read this thread before playing… so I guess I may have already understood some things ahead of time). That being said, I still think I learned most things in battle by simply trying them out and seeing what works, and what the effects and behaviors are. I feel like that’s normal for most games. A more in depth tutorial may be necessary when battles are super long and game-overs put you back a ways, but in this game everything moves quickly enough that I think learning some things through trial and error is totally fine because the battles are quick and it sounds like if you lose you can immediately start over almost as quickly as in Celeste.
The only thing I saw that could be corrected in the demo is that when Faye asked the one rich bratty girl if she’s ever had her head kicked in or something there was no question mark at the end of her line (not that the question was actually meant to be answered lol).
Anyway, this game is unique and I’m looking forward to playing more! Nice work Necrosoft! I think this new genre suits you well :)
