I’m so happy @andrewelmore made this thread. I’d always thought the PSP was cool but never had one. I ended up buying a Go brand new three months after I bought my Vita at launch in 2012. I slowly went backwards through some of the catalog, spending a ton of time with Patapon and even grabbed the official dock with component cables to make the weirdest PSX setup. A few months back I ordered a white PSP 3000 from Japan and started revisiting the library again. I played a bit of Persona during a trip after reading through @Privately_Attack’s essay on it.
Lately, I’ve been trying to find the most Sega-esque games to play and PSP just has a certain Sega flavor to it at times. I haven’t quite scratched that itch yet but otherwise I’ve been having fun with Dissidia, WTF, Me & My Katamari, and this Wipeout thing everybody seems to be talking about.
I think the thing I love most about PSP is how great it was to have a multimedia device that did everything and wasn’t a phone. I really miss when gaming technology was a little less connected but still pushing the boundaries toward the future. There’s a sweet spot in the PSP that we’ll never have again.
