Really fun episode despite 0 Jaffe. Andres did a great job guesting and butting in just enough. I’m always listening at work and by the time I sit down at home, I always forget half of the things I want to comment on.
Which Nintendo IP would Sega make a good entry of?
My immediate thought was Punch-Out! I think the Sega of olden times could re-tool any of Nintendo’s early arcade games and do them well. And Excitebike. An AM2 Excitebike might be fun…
Which game director would make the best physical version of their game?
I’ll go with Kenji Eno and a Real Sound: Kaze no Regret audio only type of experience. I feel like as a musician and man of many talents, he might have been able to create an interesting real world adventure room where you can’t see anything. Maybe an escape room type of thing?
Never been a big Pokemon fan myself but I’m kind of surprised they didn’t make a Pokemon Snap ARG game for mobile instead. Perhaps tying it into Pokemon Go to push people back into it?
In regards to @exodus ’s job listing, the opening seems like a great opportunity for someone capable to get their feet in the industry. It appears just having some real world business experience (read: not just sales, but actually active management) and enough aptitude/interest to pick up any remaining knowledge would be sufficient. However, inside the job listing there is explicit language that might lead some to think you will turn away anyone without prior Games Producer experience.
As per the above, you must have solid experience as a producer. We would love to work with people of lesser experience but unfortunately since we don’t have the expertise or training ability in the studio, we need the production experience to come from you.
From the podcast, you sounded like folks coming from a film background were piquing your interest most so far. Perhaps this language could be adjusted to inform potential applicants you are more open than it sounds now?
I’d consider addressing any question you’ve had to answer multiple times in regards to the posting as well!
