Speaking as someone who has hovered between poverty and “lower class” my whole life and has not bought a video game at release in, I don’t know, 15 years?1— I’m quite happy about the trend of rapid free-fall discounts in recent years. From my perspective it’s the people (in general) who pay $60+ for the same game I’ll pay < $20 for, and who participate in a fleeting discourse based around playing a couple hours of every game on the hype train before moving on, who are much worse off.
