I came back, this time from the station, and for some context for everyone on how big these stairs are, here’s a picture of them from the outside, extending far into the distance:
(well, only half the length of it was stairs. there were some long horizontal sections)
edit: actually maybe this was a different big staircase, because I ended up in a different, much weirder place
double edit: if this is the place exodus was talking about, then wow, it is a crazy massive complex. Yongsan is very interesting, because you have super modern luxurious hotels and malls, and then you take a single turn and you end up in a neverending labyrinth of the 20th century’s lost dreams
