Gaagaagiins Today there was actually a decent amount of melt, lots of sunlight today meant there were temperatures just above freezing and some surface melt. The driveway is almost completely clear!
It wasn’t enough to get even grass poking through anywhere, though. It’s also forecasted to snow tomorrow. However… it’s also forecasted to be quite warm tomorrow, and warm the next few days with a shocking high of 7 on Saturday I think.
This sucks actually, I hate snow showers and freezing rain. Like, please make up your mind!
The unseasonably warm weather persisted after this! There was significant melt, enough for grass to poke up out of the snow cover all over the place, and for driveways to melt and clean themselves.
Mind you, it wasn’t pleasant. Some of my least favourite weather overall is when it hovers around just above freezing. There is still significant humidity in the air since less of it is freezing and settling on the ground. You can dress for -20C and keep warm by staying active, even just walking. But hovering around freezing is where the moisture in the air just cuts right through clothing. I would take -20C over 1C most of the time.
Thankfully though, it was not too warm or cold enough for freezing rain, and also I don’t think water fell outta the sky much in general. So there isn’t a whole lot of weird ice cover everywhere, it mostly all kept melting and draining off into the ground or storm drains.
It looks like temps are dropping once again, and there was a bit of a wet, meagre snowfall last night, but more light fluffy beautiful snow during the day. A weather advisory is showing that it’s gonna keep snowing and be warm enough tonight to possibly be partly rain, so, it’s not quite so cold that we’re getting just snow. But it feels like we’re officially back into winter again. Might go ask my dad to see if I should shovel a bit tonight so it will be easier for him tomorrow morning when he usually shovels.
Here’s a view from the back deck door, showing the light fluffy picture-esque snow from earlier during the day, and our ugly deck. Snow can make this look nice, even!
