RubySunrise I appreciate the emergent, collaborative, storytelling elements that are allowed on Violence Island. As long as Jaffe continues to wrangle the panel like a good DM, it’s a recipe for a real good time.
DaveedNoo exodus I know, but I can dream! I just liked the idea of him coming out on top with his car somehow.
saddleblasters exodus @Jaffe Can there be a Non-Violence Island someday for all the videogame characters who aren’t fighters? Like, I don’t know, it could be a debate tournament? The panelists can hypothesize what points Parappa would make in favor of ending social security, or whatever it is they talk about at debate tournaments. (I have no idea what actual serious debate competitions are like).
NoJoTo c’mon, the correct answer for which important video-games figure would get into smash bros. is miyamoto’s wife!
citrusity Jaffe Honestly, it took me until you said “turnips” to get it. I just don’t see Wart as a frog any more than I see Bowser as a lizard or dragon - just a big, scaly monster.
Punzai As soon as Ash said Oscar The Grouch I immediately remembered Ultimate Play The Game’s Cookie on the Spectrum with its highly unofficial Oscar appearance…
Lunarchivist a maybe dated answer cir. 2004 but the videogamiest muppets are beaker and bunsen because they’ve been writing penny arcade for like 25 years
RubySunrise esper Who or what is the Gritty of video games? Luigi in Mario Kart 8. For a brief time prerelease, everyone focused on his angry expression while holding an item and ascribed all sorts of qualities to him because of it.
Fuck Trevor I don’t think I heard that buzzer once this episode! Good job, panel! Regarding the Gritty of video games, for some reason the very first character that came to mind when the question was asked was Tingle from the Zelda games.
saddleblasters Fuck Trevor I guess is it that Tingle has a very small role in all of the LoZ games he appears in, yet is way more interesting than any other aspect of the series? If you’ve only played LoZ games in which Tingle doesn’t appear and someone showed you a picture of him, you’d probably just assume they’re making stuff up, the way my older brother who had only watched the Peter Jackson LotR movies always insisted I was making Tom Bombadil up every time I mentioned him as a kid.
