Syzygy For the same reason these ports are possible the Dreamcast emulator Demul has been able to do Atomiswave games handily for quite a while; the interest in these is the novelty of close-as-you-get to official new Dreamcast releases + some practicality of a Dreamcast being easy to hook up to a CRT and the increased accuracy of native hardware.
robinhoodie And now the big one… Sushi Bar https://www.dreamcast-talk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=13685&sid=43e04323645c8c34624bc0df706dd561
robinhoodie In further Dreamcast homebrew related new, there looks to be a very competent version of Quake for the system now Hmm, now playing it, the framerate is pretty rough. He also did a DOOM port though that plays pretty well.
exodus WOOOO SUSHI BAR!!! I was excited about that quake for a minute, maybe they’ll eventually get it there.
robinhoodie I got the beta firmware for the Brook Wingman SD adapter and can confirm it works great with my USB keyboards on Typing of the dead (also with fight sticks for Atomiswave stuff). Now all I need is a way to simulate the Virtual On Twin sticks and I feel like I can build an entire early 2000’s arcade out of my Dreamcasts.
hellomrkearns robinhoodie just looking up that Wingman SD now and it’s pretty cool! Especially from an accessibility point of view.
robinhoodie Patched English Translation of Blue Submarine No. 6 is now up on CDromance https://cdromance.com/dc-iso/blue-submarine-no-6-saigetsu-fumahito-time-and-tide-japan/
robinhoodie hellomrkearns Yeah, I have become so much more interested in all the different ways you can interface with a game after my time working for Babycastles on cabinet set up and then fixing up arcade sticks that came into the E-waste Warehouse. I really gotta spring for that Xbox Adaptive controller one day. I dunno, just anything to help breakdown that barrier of there being SO MANY buttons on controllers from the last 25 years in my effort to get people who don’t play game to play games. A bunch of my non-gaming friends where pumped when I posted the Typing of the Dead picture on my social media. There is definitely something too that.
Syzygy Kind of funny (if reasonable) that a keyboard would be thought of as accessible. Not 20 years ago you could take adult “typing classes” at any community college.
hellomrkearns bringing this thread back for more Atomiswave https://www.dreamcast-talk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=74&t=14038
