I finished off Gran Turismo 7’s menu books/main campaign last night and it really ended with a sputter. The final challenge is to race in a GT3 championship which consists of 5 races. I didn’t drive that great but I managed to win it first try with an unmodified Honda NSX gt3 car.
This game really feels like there’s a lot of content missing. There’s very few championships, you don’t need to do all license tests, and there’s so many categories of cars going unused that are all in the game (e.g, electric cars, formula cars, GT2, GT1, dumb VGT cars…).
Additionally every race in the campaign is the style of start in last place, and pass every car over max 5 laps to win. It’d be nice if they did some grid starts with more competive AI. (I know there’s some stand alone races like this). There aren’t any races with tyre wear and/or fuel consumption either. Qualifying would be cool too.
It’s just weird, because surely making a championship or even a couple races is the least demanding aspect of these games. It’s probably just filling out a template. The cars and tracks are all there, why aren’t they being used?

The driving is real good and more technical than GT Sport so here’s my rankings of cars I used:
Faves:
- Audi TT ’03 - Owns for rally and track
- Honda S660, - Hilarious to try and keep up to actual cars.
- Mustang ’15, - My USA car, all black, it can go pretty fast.
- Nissan GTR R32, - The good gtr, it goes fast and it turns. (I used to be a GTR hater)
Mid tier:
- Audi TTS ’14 - Won me all the turbo races, didn’t require a wing.
- Ford GT ’08 - Too fast for me.
- BMW M3 ’89 - Literally the perfect car, too good to use.
- Porsche 911 ’09 - Too much kaboose, awful times were had in the rain.
Evil cars:
- GTR R35 - The most powerful sled, required for tokyo gtr race
- Ferrari Testarossa ’91 - Without a wing it oversteers, with a wing it oversteers and takes off going down hills.
- Mustang ’15 - My USA car, will oversteer at any opportunity.
The cool FF starter cars:
- Suzuki Swift ’17, Abarth 500 ’09, Peugeot RCZ ’15,
