Paradox announcement day! You know what that means… substantial updates to the grand strategy games the ikea versions of Maxis games!
Cities Skylines 2 is coming later this year!!!! The good news is, it’s finally a chance to fix some of the basic issues with traffic, and really go all in with the production line stuff they played around with in some of the DLCs. They’ve been taking their time with this so I’m excited to see what they come up with. I also hope this time it’s done in unreal engine, because unity would chug I want to see videos of people’s insane endgame builds.
They also announced a Sims competitor that looks a little dry. I guess we’ll learn more later this month. I like that it has the Cities Skylines toybox aesthetic, and hopefully that means it’s more of a building game, but there’s nothing really to glean from this yet.
The Lamplighters League looks like it’s having fun with itself a heck of a lot more than Empire of Sin did. I’m not too interested in an X-Com style game, but it looks well done.
CK3 is adding more into the roleplaying which is alright but I kind of want them to add Republics and Nomads already. EU4 looks like they’re going to focus on great powers in the next DLC… yawn. If it were up to me they would rework South America or give us a proper West Africa DLC. No Victoria 3 updates sadly.
