I played through that Sea of Stars demo that releases a little while back. I Iiked it quite a lot. I’ve still been meaning to go back because I felt like I hadn’t quite cracked the battle system, and I believe there’s more of the one town to explore.
The dialogue and character animations during cut scenes is rhythmic and plays for comedy which I enjoyed. Reminds me a lot of FFVI, SMRPG, and Golden Sun. The actual demo dungeon was pretty cool. I liked how there was a central room and I explored everywhere else from that room by changing a thing. It wasn’t always clear to me when I could climb/jump down something. Maybe there’s going to be some visual cohesion to it in the full game, but I see a future in which I spend the whole game running up to ledges to see what happens.
What excites me most is that the demo feels like a real slice taken out of a full game, but still like it’s own little story. My favorite RPGs feel episodic in their pacing, and the length of this one feels just right.
