After an excruciatingly long wait, it looks like the Yggdra Union remaster is coming to Switch in North America:

I’m determined to just grab any and all Dept. Heaven games that Sting localizes, but Yggdra Union in particular hits me in a very specific feel. Maybe this will mean that stuff like Blaze Union and Yggdra Unison will get English language releases (but probably not)!

Anybody else somehow miss the announcement of a new game from Keita Takahashi and Uvula?

Looks really lovely. I get some Boku no Natsuyasumi vibes off of it with the whole narrative, day-by-day adventure game thing it’s got going on. It’s interesting to see a game put disability front and center, too, we’ve made some strides in accessibility (and Able Gamers seems to have helped with this, which is really cool) but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a disabled protagonist in a game like this. I’m really looking forward to it.

Say what you will about the aged switch hardware: the fact the larger games are like 15GB and the absolutely hugest ones are like, what, 60? is incredible. something like Pikmin 4 on PC would easily be 60GB.

Also hardly anyone is talking about Atelier Marie ReMake, which looks super sweet. If it weren’t for the success of Ryza series, this may have never happened due ot being pretty obscure by western standards. I’ve been interested in the verseions for GBC in the past, and recently I got an original PS1 memory card with a nice atelier marie sticker label on it that probably came with the original game.

It’s only like 6 hours long! I’ll probably check it out

Somehow missed this game’s announcement yet I am fascinated with its “cinematic trailer”:

It’s the dialogue - words straight from a 13-year-old’s Tumblr webcomic, coming out of the mouths of professionally voice-acted Unreal 5 characters. It’s the character models - near-photorealistic at a glance, but animated with the jerky exaggerated doll motions of a Telltale game. It’s the fact that this talky, contextless scene is the “cinematic trailer” the game’s developers hope will sell it to the world. It’s the fact that Electronic Arts is paying for all of this.

Video games are back, baby.

I’m sold on ACVI. this is certainly not the first time From Software appeals to my demographic while other devs are not. It feels like we never left 2009 (insert FFXIII / Demon’s Souls , FFXVI / ACVI analogy)
With ACVI, unlike FFXVI and totk, I feel confident. What I’ve seen is what I’ll get. Far less subversive appeals to broaden the market appeal. They are broadening the market appeal, but they know their expanded audience is mostly Souls fans now. They don’t have to change much or dumb things down much. It looks incredible.

I never thought I’d take a dystopic future mech war game over GoT-inspired, matsuno-adjacent “low”-fantasy style mainline single player Final Fantasy title, but here I am… damn….
