i know it’s been talked about a little in this thread already, but why is emulation so difficult to just get running these days? i used to be able to download zsnes or whatever and a rom and go play, but stuff like retroarch is so deeply obtuse to me. i downloaded the ares emulator which to be sure is WAY better for me but…. there’s like, no documentation? not in the download or on the website? i’d like to play around with some crt filter stuff and i can pick from the defaults but can’t change the settings? why is it like this now!! are there emulators that aren’t some deeply hobbyist-feeling stuff that i’m overlooking or what, every time i get pointed to a github page my eyes glaze over and i have no clue what i’m supposed to be doing. i just like wanna plug my laptop into my tv and play a dang game with crt-looking graphics for dithering/sonic-waterfall-esque reasons
