Hey, Welcome II the Terrordome is a film of some legit interest – I believe it was the first British theatrical feature to be directed by a black woman (in 1995, which is crazy). That aforementioned scene is definitely a whole lot to handle and you could very fairly call the movie nihilistic, but it’s a pretty radical piece of dystopian Afrofuturism
(it also kind of falls into that mid-90s aesthetic bucket of very strange, low-budget, post-Blade Runner, MTV sci-fi with a very specific feeling – like the Super Mario Bros. movie and Tank Girl and that live action Fist of the North Star – but it feels super weird that it’s in that bucket, because it has actual things to say)
