I watched this over the past few days and now I have a hankering for some SFA2. Is the Street Fighter 30th Ann. on PS4 a good way to play online?

tomjonjon Alpha 2 is cool! The 30th Anniversary Collection is superb, but unfortunately you can only play SFII: Super Turbo, Alpha 3, and 3rd Strike online. Certainly not a dealbreaker at all, I also happen to like Alpha 1/2. I like the implementation of the games and lobby in the collection very much and I enjoy the others as single-player content or games when friends come over. It’s frequently on sale and is an insane value.

Just going to throw my PSN handle out - tomjonjon - if anyone is interested in playing various fighting games sometime in the future. After the middle of this month my weekends will be free-ish.

Edit to say that while I dig fighting games I haven’t spent much time with them over the last few years. I don’t really like playing totally random people and none of my gaming friends are willing to get into fighters past Smash. Here are the games I have for PS4 - Virtua Fighter 5, Tekken 7, SF30th, SFV, Last Blade 2, SamSho Collection, Dragon Ball FighterZ and Soul Calibur 6. Very green at most of these games.

Oh yeah - and GG Strive.

tomjonjon Do you have Melty blood, Kill la Kill: If, Tekken 7, Uniclr or Multiverse? I also play Power Rangers and that’s crossplay. I own it on switch.

I own BBTAG and Kill la Kill: IF on switch as well. I honestly would by any fighting game on the switch give it has crossplay and is respected by the devs to still implement rollback.

In hindsight, GBVS was a testing ground for a lot of Strive design ideas, so you may find it more familiar and appealing than that. My main (Beezlebub) would fit neatly into Strive as-is. And given ASW’s recent penchant for cross-over dream match games, we might someday see the DBFZ/GBVS/DNFD/GGST mashup . . .

Syzygy it’s not that I think I’ll dislike gbvs, just that I REALLY love Strive. I might even stick with it after Street Fighter 6 comes out and I usually gravitate towards Capcom fighters.

Well nope! They played Sega’s obscure 1984 bullfighting simulation 🇯🇵THE Tōgyū / 🇺🇸🇪🇺Bull Fight, developed by Coreland a.k.a. future Banpresto, instead. Six challengers and the winner is who gets the highest score by the end of round 4.

seasons Every time they release new marketing materials for SFVI I get more cautiously optimistic. The hub world stuff looks simultaneously goofy as hell and also silly and cool. Rooting hard for Street Fighter as it tries to reinvent itself as a franchise.

The create-a-characters are giving me strong Playstation Home vibes.

Street Fighter probably has the install base to allow for it but I can’t help but thinking what will be the state of all these casual side modes five, ten years down the line.

Picked up the Capcom Fighting Collection now that it’s on sale. I hadn’t played a Darkstalkers before, but holy cow that game is rad!
