I grew up eating a lot of tortellini. It’s a more expensive pasta because it’s fancy and stuffed, so maybe that plays a role here, and it’s also usually in the refrigerated section instead of the dry pasta section, so probably easy to miss. It’s usually multi-coloured and full of cheese, so a real crowd-pleaser for kids, which, considering the pickiness of me and my 3 siblings, was definitely a factor. We usually just ate it with cheese sauce and sausages, but my parents were still overcoming their British-ness in terms of culinary variety at the time so I’m sure there are a bunch of things to do with it that I don’t know about. I just make casserole because you can put everything in a pot and leave it for half an hour, and the tomato sauce gives the dish a little more variety than just throwing cheese on top of cheese (although there’s still a lot of cheese…it’s a treat, after all.)
