whatsarobot Knight Terrors is a kind of flimsy two month event which is really more of a prompt than a premise, with a nightmare-inducing villain making his way through the DC universe. The main story is about Deadman trying to stop him from getting this thing called the Nightmare Stone but that’s not really important. What it’s really about is how it gives each creative team two issues to do a dream sequence story that explores their characters’ greatest nightmares, and get as weird with it as they want.
Gotham War is just starting this week, and it’s a storyline going through all the Bat-centric titles about Catwoman’s new strategy of fighting crime in Gotham – she’s hiring and training all the goons to be more effective criminals. No kills, get away clean. They get bigger scores, but they only go after Gotham’s elite, and the pool of henchmen for every other supervillain has been severely limited. Violent crime in Gotham is 75% down since she started. Batman hates this, of course. But he’s dealing with his own mental issues which have been influencing his actions to take even more of a rigid moral stance than usual, a story which has been developing since Chip Zdarsky took over Batman duties and reintroduced the “Zur En Arrh” stuff from Morrison’s Batman run.
The Bat-Family is divided on which of them is right here, and they’re taking sides. Red Hood immediately jumped to join Catwoman. Damian is sticking by Bruce. The rest need to make up their minds. It’s pretty interesting so far, but we’ll see where it goes.
