If I remember correctly, the only vegetarian sandwiches I could find in Korean convenience stores were egg and strawberry jelly? I might be misremembering, though it was definitely some unfamiliar feeling combination of a sweet thing and a savory thing I’d never thought to combine before.
Like Brandon, I normally just have bread and peanut butter without any jelly. When I lived with my mom, who would buy jam from time to time, I’d occasionally indulge in a jam sandwich, without peanut butter. I never have them together though, not because of any philosophical rejection, but simply because I don’t want to get jelly in the peanut butter jar or vice versa.
I was surprised that peanut butter is a fairly common thing in China, to the point of being a staple you can find in many convenience stores. I had always assumed it was just an American thing the rest of the world finds disgusting.
