You old geezers are wrong about vinyl on multiple levels. First, the kids will come up with new terms for old things. Reframing, so to speak. Doom clones became first-person shooters.
Second, in French, we call them vinyle since the early 2000s. That’s what they are now called by everyone, pure and simple. A lecteur de vinyles, une collection de vinyles. Francophone stores even use the term for their English pages.
