The ISO does work on real hardware via GC loader. But you NEED to set Boot through IPL to Enabled or it will crash on boot.

tomjonjon Yeah it kind of is just a gimmick as the wide open lanes don’t serve Mario Kart very well. I would get into first and then just stay there. But this would be very cool multiplayer at an event. Again likely through LAN play.

Oh yeah - PS3 HEN has come home to roost! Now I can keep my copy of Folklore sealed!

I put a $25 512GB SSD into a used PS3 I got on eBay for $80. Installed the firmware fresh (latest 4.90) without using a backup of the previous mechanical drive. Had to retry getting the HEN web installer to go through a few times, but overall went pretty smoothly. For about $100 this thing can be a king!

Definitely going to do this to a few other PS3s I have. If you’ve ever softmodded a Wii this is just as simple.

copySave I just did one for work that supports full CFW and its a moving target on what website to use, but YEAH, once you open things up and use a modern HDD, really breaths new life into the PS3. You hit a 1TB limit internally, but WebManMod will let you connect an external 2TB.

robinhoodie Good to know on that external option - thanks! I did see that WebMAN supports playing games on a network drive too. I’ve just started getting dumps and it’s funny how big the games seemed at the time, but they are usually less than 10gb, so it’s not unfeasible to have every title you want at your fingertips. The PS3 still feels like future tech to me (maybe because of that $600 launch price - lol) so modding it and treating those fancy Blu-Ray discs like they’re nothing is a bit surreal.

i got one of those Miyoo Mini Pluses! (and a fresh 128gb sd card, and onionOS, etc)

i love this thing. i just need to figure out a way to record video on it for use in the YouTube version of the show and I’ll be a happy camper.

Anyone have any DSi experience? I posted about this in the Nintendo DS thread, but I might have more luck here.

I just bought a DSi XL. It looks to be in good condition. The slot-1 works fine with DS games, but I’m having issues with SD cards. Every card I’ve tried using gives me the “The device inserted in the SD Card Slot cannot be used” message. I’ve tried SD and SDHC cards of various sizes, but keep getting the same message.
The card is formatted as FAT32 correctly and works on other devices, including my 3DS and Wii.

I tried using a bit of contact cleaner but that didn’t make any difference.

It can tell the difference between when there is no card inserted, but just rejects all the cards I’ve tried.

The manual is of no help.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated! I really hope it’s fixable without getting a new SD card slot….

hellomrkearns Double posting, but its valuable info for all: The DS has a SD card Size limit due to its age. 32Gb is as big as you can go.

SO I blew my weekend working on a event system for work

There is a lot you can do with the PS2, but man is the software still fiddly. And uploads to a drive still slow. And the major PS2 forum is offline.

I have hit a ton of walls with trying an EXFAT drive and the new OPL, and especially with using a HDD over 1TB.

If anyone is thinking of diving in, please feel free to ask questions as it might help me repeat back what I have somewhat learned.

treefroggy I really like the new OPL skin, but I had to use an older version to get the 1TB HDD working. So I went the route of thinking that at least if I gussy it up a bit it will be passable. I really feel like the covers + the screen shots will help a casual player find something to play.

Obskyr SO. In theory you can use up to 2TB on even an older version of OPL. And this video say you can get up to 16thb with the newest version

But my headache has been that no matter how I transferred the games over they would not show up on the latest version. I don’t doubt it can be done, but anything this imprecise comes with a BIG warning.
