◉◉maru ◉◉maru Brazil should be way above them in this list. They have never won the World Cup (nor the Olympics) despite being The Country of Soccer and having produced the greatest female soccer player in History. +Them finally winning a major trophy under Lula’s presidency right after the Bolsonaro-endorsed Brazil’s Men Team failed spectacularly once again would be a sweet dose of karmic justice. Hmmmhmhmhmmm conflicted feelings…
yeso you see, now we’re in the uncomfortable position of having Brazil v Jamaica likely decide who goes through with France. My rankings remain pristine
◉◉maru Here’s a good hack to stop rooting for the Evil USWNT Empire: 18 of the 23 players making up the Philippines squad were born in the USA. They qualify for the 2nd round if they beat Norway this Sunday.
beets If you ignore VER this has been one of the closest seasons in recent history. All teams have points, we’ve also had 3-4 different “second fastest” teams so far. Max’s final qualy lap on Friday was insane, I want to see him win by a minute
yeso watched Colombia - germany replay heck of a game. Didn’t see Japan - Spain but JP has to be looking the sharpest in the tournament so far. Debating whether or not to stay up for do or die USA portugal tonight. Leaning towards yes bc I know I don’t have the discipline to avoid looking up the result until I can watch the replay
yeso well that was a shitty fuckin game to pull an all nighter for. Don’t know how US beats Sweden in this state
yeso tough to see Brazil go out. Happy for Jamaica though of course. If only a certain french-speaking western european nation had heeded my rankings. Still not feeling great about the US at this point. We’ll see on Sunday if Sweden hates freedom
skelly yeso i was especially sad for marta as she said it was the end of the line for her in world cups. it was going to be her last regardless, but i’m sad one of the greatest footy players of all time won’t have a cup to her name. i can only hope the brazilian team builds on what they have and become stronger
◉◉maru Congrats @christoffing for saving the skin of the Europeans on this forum. Long live football!
yeso you may have won the battle (this soccer game), but you have lost the war (perhaps literally in the future (joined NATO))
yeso I’m willing to throw my hat in the ring as next USWNT head coach. I’ve played a fair amount Football Manager - which is smarter than playing Fifa - and I know most of the soccer positions and rules
yeso christoffing trequartista that was Macario before she went down with an ACL…which was a little more than a year ago and the team never really committed to a formation suited to her absence in all the time since. They finally moved in that direction in this game, but too little too late of course We’ll see how the rest of the tournament plays out. Japan looks like frontrunner at this point
