the social media comments are incredibly nasty about this. The players are getting a nice check by normal human standards from playing in the tournament even with the early exit, but the amount of psychotic hate vs best case scenario you make dentist money for 8 years, then transition to the regular work force w no other skills… Even NFL minimum guys make more in a short career + have health insurance and benefits than all but the tiny handful of women’s soccer players who get like a nike deal or whatever. It’s still either middle class money or first year teacher money during your twenties, so nothing to get to broken up about though, but it’s a different dynamic I think
