spurred on by @yeso’s love for women’s football I did kind of a deep dive on what is out there
Seems like the top leagues aren’t much different than men’s football: England, Spain, France are all good. I think the major difference is the US women’s league seems like it plays at a higher level than the MLS? We’re getting an expansion team next season in the NWSL which is exciting!
One thing I noticed about the WSL(England’s top league) is that the games when aired look kinda…crappy lol. The camera angle makes it hard to see what’s happening on the far side of the field. I’m guessing this is because the places they play are smaller than the big Cup games/men’s soccer stadiums? It does seem like the women play their bigger games in the regular stadiums.

And when you go to a smaller professional league, the Scottish women’s league here, it’s like someone is just standing in the bleachers with a phone:

But yeah kinda interesting! I am slowly wrapping my head around all the different leagues, Cups, tournaments etc that go into the sport. It’s pretty fascinating.
