Anyone follow MLB? I don’t know how weird of a fan I am because I don’t go all-out on one team.

I’ve always been a big comic book nerd, but in my late teens writer Brian Michael Bendis taught me to not necessarily stick with titles, but the authors and writers I like. This allowed me to accept my appreciation of players and multiple teams. I’m a huge Baltimore Orioles fan because of family and nostalgia; I love the Blue Jays because I reside near the AA affiliate and have watched so many of the team start out as 19 year olds and travel through the system; I’m also pretty close to Boston, and a friend had season tickets and would also invite me to games with her; I grew up in Upstate New York so the Yankees were the team to root for, but my grandparents had a satellite dish so we always watched the Atlanta Braves play.

I never really liked playing the game for personal reasons, and my kids don’t play because adults involved with Little League 9 out of 10 times are jerks, but I’ve just always had an appreciation for AA players on up. I have some great books on baseball. I think my favorite is Where Nobody Knows Your Name.

and that pit lane debacle also happened last year in australia, but to a lesser degree because there were a lot less people. usually they let photographers and other personnel out a lap or two before the end to get ready for the cars coming in, but they obviously forgot ocon had yet to pit (albon last year)

skelly F1 has been so exhausting as of late

I have been feeling the same, and a weekend that featured both F1 and FE races has only exacerbated that feeling.

FE raced around Monaco this weekend, typically one of the most boring on the F1 calendar (yes yes tradition I know, but the race sucks) and had more action and excitement in the first few laps than an entire F1 race. Two and three wide in to the hotel hairpin! Moves everywhere. Drivers just sending it up the inside from nowhere.

F1 raced around Miami and I wish I’d waited and just watched the 5 minute highlights package on YouTube instead of watching the whole thing live.

I’ve spent my whole life watching F1, i love it… but dang, the current era is a struggle. It isn’t just ”oh there’s one driver/team miles ahead all the time”, I grew up with Senna lapping people, I enjoyed the Schumacher era. I’m hoping the rules and regulation changes coming in 2026, along with some new constructors, will revitalise F1.

Until then, I will not miss a race in FE.
(Also, FE being all electric is a huge bonus)

Ichinojo’s retirement was sudden and late-breaking enough that he’s on the banzuke here. I wonder what’s going on, I can’t help but feel like there is a bit more to it than is being let on.

rejj I agree that FE has been really good this year, although the sport has kind of changed. It seems to be all about slipstreaming now and the attack mode just pushes the cars back down the order. That said, it’s very entertaining especially as a NZer, hoping Cassidy can take the championship but I support Mitch too.

I think F1 has been kind of dull, especially Baku, but I thought that Miami was a good race, it felt very 2020. If Max started from the front though, it wouldve been terrible.

The other category I’ve been watching is WEC. It’s great this year if you have the time. Spa was excellent, especailly the start. Like F1 there’s a dominant team (toyota) but it feels like Ferarri can challenge them and that Cadillac and Porsche are getting better. However, I’ve but all my support in Peugeot and it’s not looking good. I’ll have to support them more by buying the Lego 9x8

I think it would be incredibly funny actually for the Toronto Maple Leafs to get swept after everyone celebrating them finally getting past the first round of the playoffs (I am a Sens fan lol).
