Sorry to pull us temporarily away from our high-stakes world cup wagering, but it is time for a quick sumo update.
The leaderboard is tightening up at the top now after 11 days:

| | East Sekiwake | | Hoshoryu |
| | West Maegashira #9 | | Hokutofuji |

A couple of important matches from today, taken from the JSA official youtube channel so they shouldn’t disappear hopefully!
Hokutofuji vs Wakamotoharu:
Daieisho vs Kirishima:
Only 4 more days remain!
edit: Some interesting matches lined up for tomorrow.
Hakuoho, in his debut tournament in the top division and at rank M17 tomorrow is paired up against a Komusubi, Abi. Granted, Abi hasn’t been doing too well this basho – but this will be a genuine test of whether or not the pundits’ high expectations for Hakuoho are well founded. He’s already secured a winning record with 8-3 after today. Impressive, for his first top division basho.
The penultimate match of the day sees Hoshoryu vs Hokutofuji, both with a 9-2 record. The winner will still have a chance for the tournament victory, and I’d say the loser being at 9-3 is likely out of contention (unless others ahead of them choke). This is the “must see” match of the day, I would say.
