The Dutch GP was such a good race, wouldn’t be surprised if it’s the best of the year. Rain arriving on lap 2 made the first 30 minutes amazing to watch. I wish the Rain at the end wasn’t so torrential but it was still pretty good.

Group F is probably the toughest on paper but Group C is pretty amazing as well with the two people’s darlings Napoli and Union Berlin against a diminished Real Madrid. Not much drama elsewhere. Great chance for Lens in Group B given how poorly Sevilla is playing right now.

Lens had a terrible start to their Ligue 1 campaign but tonight they finally showed what made them the most universally beloved French team last season. Now if they can just eke out two wins out of the remaining four games…

I hope ① that it is nothing too serious for Saka and ② that Elye Wahi’s decision to refuse getting buried on Chelsea’s triple-decker bench and to instead join Lens this year will serve as an example for tons of young players who are often way too eager to get a Premier League jersey in their locker as quickly as possible and waste their chance to make a real career out of it. That was the perfect next move for his progress.

Whew, last time Arsenal were in the Champions League they were thrashed 10-2 by Bayern on aggregate. I remember playing the recently released Breath of the Wild long into the night afterwards. Weird to think either of those things happened going on 7 years ago.

Hopefully we can get one last good group stage for the road, before things are shaken up for the next installment.

Jax PSV are your main competition, I think. They have played really well lately. Sevilla is dogshit. RC Lens lost two of the key players which led to their fantastic run last year; unless they get a last minute signing or three, they’ll most likely play entertaining, toothless football and aim for third place / whatever C3 is called these days. But here’s hoping they surprise one of the favorites.

Yeah, PSV played us quite tight over both fixtures in the Europa League last season, taking 3 points in Eindhoven. Sevilla, who knows. Surely they’ll have found some semblance of form by the time the matches come around, and if there’s one thing they do it’s win in Europe. Lens I’m not as familiar with but they’ve qualified from a top league so one figures they won’t be simple pushovers.

It’s an interesting year for Paris to draw a tough group. From the outside they look a very different team than they were last time out.
