I recently did the same exact thing, going through 1,2,3’s mobile port. I looked into it when I played through 2, and it seems like 2 had some major difficulty changes to make it a smoother experience. I know in particular that the stats and AI of companions were not really working as intended in the endgame and that got fixed up a bit.
I also second finishing up the trilogy with 3. It’s a huge step up from the first two, which are decent already, and some really fun callbacks to the first two. There is also the remake of 3 coming out, which could be good to wait for if you’re looking for what will hopefully be a definitive version.
