It took me till now to realize that what I eat for breakfast every morning is an unorthodox take on a recipe: pretty much tamago kakke gohan but with steel-cut oats in place of rice. I make it with 250-300g of reheated oatmeal (I make a big batch and then weigh it and divide that by five or six), one raw egg, soy sauce, a splash of unsweetened soy milk, a whole diced green onion (I tried only harvesting the green ends for a while but I like eating the bulbs) and lately I’ve taken to topping it all off with 2× Buldak sauce.
Eaten with chopsticks using my non-dominant hand (I am now ambidextrous—with chopsticks) and washed down with a glass of low sodium vegetable juice.

Once in a while I’ll add a tiny scoop of single ingredient peanut butter, sriracha and slightly more soy milk for a kind of bastardized satay sauce, and I like it a whole lot when I do.
