first impression was that this would be sort of an immersive sim, but after getting baptized, it turns into more of an action game with survival and territory control mechanics

I’m disappointed because Gospel Shenmue would be cool I think, but now I’m running around destroying Satan’s “dark gems”

The writing gets a little weird at times. I don’t think his title was “Wine Manager,” and Jesus responds to everyone with “I’ll take care of it”

You get an ability wheel

the prologue lets you play through 2 of The Miracles of Christ: the aforementioned water into wine, and then (curiously imo) sticks with John rather than the Synoptic Gospels for the Healing of the Centurion’s Servant - in this case his son. You have to do a fantastic journey thing inside the blood vessels

Overall - not the approach I would have taken with the material but left me wanting more. Will probably pick it up on full release

LeFish you need to bear in mind that while Jesus was aware he was the Son of God from a young age, it wasn’t until His Baptism and the events of The Gospels that he began to perform Miracles and was called to God

So the game gets that historically correct. There’s no Paul Schrader style introspection though, it’s just gameplay tasks

the opening cutscene of Yakuza Kiwami 2: controller rumbles when a character slaps a woman. Perhaps a poor design choice

Chopemon Raw Danger’s “sad, cold, and moist = approaching death” meter is so good. just lie down in a puddle, shivering, and die slowly because you don’t know what button combo will let you crawl under a fence.
