CidNight, your pic has some strong King of the Hill vibes and I automatically love it cause of that. It also rules that you’ve been using colors! It really adds to your work.

For this week’s art jam, I give you MANCHIN VS SORKIN. A production for an audience of exactly 0.

Inspired by a recent episode of Pod Save America, in which John Lovett quizzed the others hosts on a game by the same name. In it, he read quotes from Joe Manchin and The West Wing about bipartisanship, and the contestants had to guess who said it.

This is exactly the sort of reason I started teaching myself how to draw and paint.

fridgeboy I hold neither of these men in any regard but holy wow this picture rules and I love it. The spring blues in Sorkin’s dad shirt and the just ever so pastel-ed up blue in Manchin’s blazer is perfectly divided by the huge Street Fighter VS and background. This is the kind of weird street art I’d put on my wall and offer no explanation for.

Love the facial expressions and colors, but the poses may be my favorite part. You know exactly the tone of the conversation these two are having.

GigaSlime My very very favorite part of this, is that in my reference image - Sorkin is actually wearing a pair of horn-rimmed glasses and wearing another pair of horn-rimmed glasses around his neck. I wanted to make sure I captured that detail.

jaws Wow, thank you! What a compliment! I loved West Wing as a kid and it certainly fostered an interest in politics and general good citizenship in me. Returning to it as an adult I can appreciate how ridiculous it is. I find the whole idea of Sorkin pretty hilarious.

beets Speaking from shared experience, the area around one’s eyes has got to be one of the worst places to get chronic eczema!! Thin and sensitive part of skin + skin condition that causes itchiness especially if you get it wet without moisturizing after + being right next to a thing that will leak water especially when agitated (rubbed/scratched) or if something gets inside of it (like ointments or creams for example) is a lot to manage.
