Okay I have a new entry:

sry to revive a dead thread but I just wanted to say all of you are the coolest people and the two months we all made art together was not just super-duper fun but completely life-changing for me. I decided to apply to MFA programs and I managed to get accepted into a fully funded school (non-CIA edition…I hope) where I’m gonna have the chance to study, teach, and most importantly write poetry while kinda being able to feed myself (still need a PT job tho lmao). everything I wrote here (after several edits) made into my work sample. I had basically given up on writing when I 20 bc the elitism was such a bummer. heck even recently last year I was advised to stop talking about such niche shit in my poems but this forum and this community gave me a space to do my thing with so many lovely kind supportive folks. and it’s not just this thread but the whole forum and the podcast itself because I’m continuously just so moved by people engaging in their passions critically and emphatically. so fr fr shout out everybody, much love always, and thank you for always keeping the dialogue goin.

I’ve been thinking about this thread lately and I think we should bring back the IC art jams!
I was too new here and still figuring out this forum’s ~ vibe ~ when the first art jams were taking place so I didn’t contribute anything

Haven’t seen @SuperEffective round here in a while so if he doesn’t come here anymore I could organize this whole thing if needed.

Let me know if y’all are interested in reviving the ol’ art jams.

I’m interested but couldn’t participate because of time/topic limit. Maybe others are in the same boat as me: not enough free time to do something strictly for the forum thread but usually working on their own thing they can share

yeso absolutely will do! trynna put a website/blog together that has a slight web1.0 vibe bc if I see one more squarespace portfolio/substack combo I’m gonna go bananas.

I agree with peeps tho that maybe 1 week only/1 topic was a little too limiting at times and could become hard to sustain once again. maybe something a lil more freeform? Like a monthly thread with a wide and loose collective of prompts that anyone can contribute to as much or as little as they wanted for that longer period.

yeso We could simultaneously revive the Fan Art thread, which tended to hang out near the jams and was a place where people just shared non-related artwork they were playing with.

jaws @穴 yeah i think a biweekly (not checking to see if this actually means every two weeks) or monthly schedule could be good, i always pushed myself to get submissions done by the deadline last time and it made my partner mad

I’ll keep all of these suggestions in mind when creating the new art jam format, and I’ll probably make some polls as well to see if I have the right ideas for this.

That’s because at the time I was still getting used to the backend forum tools (or Shane was still configuring them) and I had agreed with SuperEffective to split up what was originally a huge mega-thread, the intention was into month-by-month categories. It came out messily, but going back and messing with it now might just make it worse! Sorry.

That would still be my suggestion: make a new thread for each time period or prompt, for ease of revisiting them down the line.
