Hunting Diary update part 3 (?) : I may have reached the end of my Hunting Horn run, and will be looking to farm up materials to craft up whatever comes next. There are still many builds I haven’t tried on the Horn, but I came across the Rampage horn and had worked out that with the Rampage Skill “Healing Melody II” you can continually buff your team hard enough that nobody should ever cart. Turns out, like all good ideas, I am 100% unoriginal here and everyone is doing it. I do a little research and come across youtube videos with build guides saying to do exactly this but now with much finer attention paid to min/max on armour skills and the like.
Anyway, I’ve been running around dooting and healing and smashing my way through 7 star hunts and it has been a blast, but I certainly feel the need to switch it up a little. I’ve started playing some hunts online (searching for quests rather than hosting) and I’m coming across many more HH players now in Rise than I ever did in World.
I also see a lot of bowgun, longsword, and a little bit of charge blade. I don’t see much else out there!
My original plan was to transition from HH to Charge Blade, but I think I might go for Dual Blades simply because it seems under-represented in the lobbies I have joined online. I really enjoyed DB in MH World, there was a neat health regen build I stumbled across that I’m curious to see if I can replicate.
One thing that struck me as extremely weird was the timing of when the game chose to show the credits scroll. When it played I was left with a “….oh. is that it?” feeling – thinking if the credits are rolling then I’m done, right? Turns out no. Credits rolling in MH:Rise mean you have finished the introduction, and there is still even more plot to go (with cutscenes and the works) as you continue. Such a strange choice.
(online hunters need to look at their “hunter notes” in the menu, specifically the large monster pages that detail what materials can drop from target defeat vs capture, and stop capturing every single monster every time. I was trying to farm some material that is unable to drop as a capture reward but has a 25%(ish) drop as a target defeat, but it took so so many hunts to get because 4 out of 5 times someone would just lay a trap and mash out the tranqs.)
