captain that is incredibly kind of you to say; i was actually really self conscious about it!! i kept thinking “this just looks like a dumb sketch, I should ink it” but in the end I thought it felt kinda breezy and calm without heavy lines. :3

Did we decide on having a separate thread for “What non-prompt stuff are you making right now?” or is that to be shared in the jam threads? If there won’t be many participants in a separate thread it might be better to mix it all together

Oh hey, I almost missed this! Sorry for that. I think that it’s safe to say we should make a separate thread rather than mix everything together. I think I will opt to create a new “Art Jam” thread each month so that there’s some sort of order, and so that folks can still look back on the previous threads without TOO much scrolling around.

SuperEffective Yeah, I think it should be a new thread with the rules again at the top, and in the future we should maybe not announce the new topic in the forum before it happens so as not to confuse folks? You can just call each new thread art jam #1, 2, 3, etc

hooray! I am making a contribution!

“Purple” is the title of an album by one of my favorite jpop singers ever, Yu-A, and the album is amazing too! So I drew the cover!! or rather… tried to draw it lol

aw mans this album came out 6 years ago in 2015 >_< I went to Japan and saw her in concert in 2016, she had a baby and has barely released any new music since, only a mini album and a few songs.

I’m just happy she has released a lot of incredible music up to that point and I got to see her sing live!!

For funsies I took pictures of this one along the way. I always think this is neat when others do it.

fridgeboy it is incredibly satisfying™ to see those colors go from separate to blended

jaws there is something really lovely about adding the waterbrush to the pencil and pulling the colors together. The fact that watercolors have a tendency to kind of do their own thing makes them so appealing.

i’m finally going to sit down and start working on my contribution tonight, though it is possibly over ambitious and won’t be finished until next week. oh well! enjoying everything everyone’s posted so far!

I’ve not had time to do anything yet, but I think I might have a window of about two hours tonight to make some purple sounds. Posting this means I have to do it!

There was only one place my brain would take me with this, and with just over an hour to do it I had no time to argue with my instinct.

I’ve made the title screen music for a hypothetical Waluigi platformer.

I may flesh this out into a ‘real’ song for my band one day, unless Nintendo wants to use it as is (call me if you’re reading this, Shigeru)

I wanted to make a playlist of “purple”-sounding video game music but never went through with it (also got hung up on whether the music really sounded purple to me or whether I was making some kind of visual association with the graphics of the game when thinking of the music), and anyway I thought too much about what sounds purple to me, and I just want to say this. sounds. purple.
